Sam Figler graduated with high honors from George Washington Law School in 1994. While there he served on the Law Review as a Research and Writing Fellow. After law school, he clerked for the Honorable William M. Nickerson, federal district judge in Baltimore, Maryland. He then spent three years working for Arnold & Porter, where he represented a diverse array of clients on a broad spectrum of corporate matters. In October, 1998, he joined Yahoo! as its sixth lawyer. He spent a year in Yahoo!'s legal department, having legal responsibility for, among other things, negotiating its largest commercial transactions. He moved over to the business side in 1999 and over the next seven years held a variety of management positions, including Vice President, North American Operations, and Vice President, Sales and Media. His responsibilities during that time included strategy and planning, business development, and business operations. He resigned from Yahoo! in January 2006, and now provides advisory services for online media companies.
